The province is on the west side of the Malay Peninsula and includes the many islands of the Phang Nga Bay. Phang Nga has geographic features of mountains and forests. Its landmark is Khao Chang which is a big mountain in the shape of a crouching elephant – the symbol of Phang Nga province. Visitors can go exploring beautiful Caves, Inside the caves is very cool with clear beck and beautiful stalagmites and stalactites.. The most famous one is the so-called James Bond Island, a needle-formed limestone rock in the sea, which featured in the 1974 movie The Man with the Golden Gun. Ao Phang Nga (Phang Nga Bay) National Park was established in 1981 to protect the many islands.
Phang Nga also owns beautiful islands, including the most famous one – Similan Islands. The attractive islands are waiting for travelers to experience their charm. North Surin Island and South Surin Island are also famous for their beautiful bays. The most well-known one is Aow Mae Yai which is a big bay with a gentle sea.
